Xiaomi Redmi 9A Review - Should we buy?

What's happening on everyone, my name Khubaib and welcome back in today's article, we’re checking out one of the most affordable phones from Xiaomi called the Xiaomi Redmi 9A. Now when you buy one of these budgets friendly devices, there are always some disadvantages, and the main disadvantage or this particular run has to be the two gigs of ram that comes with the device.

Now there is another version that comes with three gigs of ram, and I highly recommend trying to get a version of three gigs of ram and skipping the one or two gigs of ram because two gigs of ram is definitely not enough these days aside from that two gigs of ram. So you already know that you're looking at the phone that's not gonna be that fast but this one was never intended to be fast this phone was mostly intended to be affordable aside from the two gigs of ram. Everything else about this phone is pretty decent, so on the front, we have a massive 6.53 inches IPS panel that has a 720p resolution the screen looks good. The colours are nice and vibrant the viewing angles are good but the screen doesn't get super bright so whenever you take this phone outside it is difficult to see so keep that in mind it's going to be much easier to see this phone indoors than outdoors.

We also have a massive 5000 mah battery inside this device and on one charger you can easily get between seven and ten hours of screen on time so the other days. I was playing a game for like four hours and I still got about eight hours of screen on time so definitely a great screen on time on this device. Now when I'm talking about games, don't imagine you're gonna be able to play like PubG or call of duty on it no because with that two gigs of ram and that CPU

that's not the fastest out there games like that aren’t gonna do that great but for a lot of basic games that you can find in the Google play store.

The phone will still great do the phone's body is made out of plastic but these days we even get phones that are a thousand dollars that are made out of plastic so definitely not a bad thing having a phone that's made out of one plastic plus it doesn't look that bad at the top. We even get a 3.5 mil audio jack so you can plug in some headphones and at the bottom of the device.

We have a micro USB charging port, I'm not very happy about that micro USB charging port  they should have definitely used as a USB port, I mean how much money they actually save by using one of these ports over a USB port because everyone has USB cables these days, and up next to that we have the holes for the speakers so this device only has one speaker

so the one at the bottom here and the speaker gets loud but it also sounds a bit tiny and

I guess this is a quick example so you can hear how the speaker sounds and moving back to our phone on the left-hand side here.

We have the sim card slot and this phone can take two sim cards and an SD card at the same time. We don't have a fingerprint scanner anywhere now the phone supports face unlocking
but the face unlocking is fairly slow and you also have to be pretty close to the phone so
I'm not sure if it's best to use face unlocking or just have a pin code so face unlocking works but it's slow at times and at night time it's almost impossible to use the cameras on it are also
pretty decent for the price I mean don't expect anything spectacular but you can definitely
take some pictures and the pictures don't look as bad as I was expecting before so yes
you can still take decent pictures some other Redmi 9A.

Now for video recordings, you can do 1080p at 30 frames per second but um we don't have
image stabilization at that resolution and this is a quick example of  a recording that I’ve done with this phone on a couple of days back this is a quick video sample the redmi 9a so the maximum recording resolution for this device is 1080p but it doesn't seem like we have any type of image stabilization at this resolution so if you are walking if your hands are shaky
your video will probably be shaky as well so yeah this is how a recording from the redmi 9a in 1080p at 30 frames per second would look like so the Redmi 9A is running miui 12 which is based on android 10 and that was nice to see considering the price of the device now as I said earlier this phone is not fast and I guess it really depends what phone you're coming from because opening apps on this one is not the quickest thing out there I mean you can still
open most apps I mean you can use Facebook you can use chrome you can use most apps that you normally use but it takes a while to actually open those apps when you're switching between apps also takes some a bit of time so this is not the quickest phone out there.

If you're a power user, don't buy this phone because uh well it's slow if you've had a faster phone on in the past don't buy this phone because it's slow but if you're coming from another budget phone this may feel faster in a way so yes you can use most applications but most applications will close once you get out of them basically so multitasking is almost non-existent and it takes a while to load apps.

The main downside to having one of these budgets friendly devices the phone will be somewhat slow and even though this may not be the fastest phone out there it only takes a few seconds to find your location and once your location is found so your GPS location is found the phone doesn't seem to lose it and you can also use any navigation app like Google Maps or Waze and that works great as well as for sensors we don't really have too many sensors but
once again for the price that was to be expected then, of course, don't expect NFC because at
this price there is no NFC included.

The quickly conclude of this review is that if you're a power user the Xiaomi redmi 9A is not gonna be for you but if you're a casual user someone that makes a couple of phone calls sends a few messages may be checks Facebook once or twice a day this one will do more than okay for that I mean the screen is big enough so you can watch videos you can see the Facebook feed
really nice on it the battery life lasts forever.

The speaker is loud enough you have a 3.5 mil audio jack so if you don't use your phone too much this will be great but if you're coming from a faster phone this will feel slow so that simple and you are probably better off to spend another 20 30 dollars and get something like the Xiaomi Redmi 8 or even the Xiaomi Redmi 7 I think those should be a bit faster than this
one and we'll have more ram because the 2 gigs of ram don't allow for any multitasking really
all right guys.
